ABBOTTABAD: The returning officer has accepted 30 nomination papers out of total 48 filed for five wards of Cantonment Board in Abbottabad district for the upcoming elections scheduled to be held on April 25.
About 39,000 voters would cast votes after a gap of more than 16 years. Cantonment Executive Officer Malik Omar Farooq, after completing the scrutiny process, told newsmen here on Sunday that a total of 93 nomination papers had been issued for five wards of the Cantonment Board, Abbottabad.
Forty-eight candidates filed papers on March 29 and 30, followed by scrutiny from April 2 to 4.He said one candidate did not come for scrutiny while another withdrew his nomination before time and papers of 16 were rejected on different grounds.
The Cantonment Board Abbottabad has constituted 45 polling stations for five wards, with 99 polling booths.In Ward-1, six polling stations have been established, Ward-2 has nine vote stations while Wards 3, 4 and 5 have 10 polling stations each. None of the polling stations has been declared sensitive with regards to security so far.
