PTI women denied ticket to record protest
MANSEHRA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) aspirants, whose names are not included in the party’s priority lists for seats reserved for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would stage a sit-in outside the Banigala residence of party chief Imran Khan.
“We are going to stage sit-in in the federal capital against placement of certain names on priority lists who have no role in party affairs,” Ambreen Swati, the divisional general secretary of PTI women wing in Hazara, told reporters on Monday.
She said that woman party workers from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would hold a peaceful protest at Banigala on Tuesday. “We are well aware that Imran Khan has no role in finalising names of such women, who landed in party through parachutes,” she added.
She believed that regional party chiefs in KP made the decisions.
To a query, Ambreen said that party workers and leaders were being deceived when two female aspirants, Maria Fatima and Zahida Sabeel, were awarded tickets for PK-30 and PK-34, respectively, ignoring local leaders who had rendered great sacrifices for the party. “The two women who have been contesting the election on PTI tickets in Mansehra have no party affiliations,” she added.
