Girl among 10 killed in three days

LAHORE: Ten persons, including a girl and a woman, were killed in various parts of the city during the last three days of Eidul Fitr.

An 18-year-old girl was killed by her brother in the name of honour in the limits of Harbanspura police.

As per police, the girl suddenly disappeared from her house, on which a case against unidentified kidnappers was registered. Later, the family came to know that she contracted marriage with a local. The girl’s brother Abdul Rehman nursed a grudge against his sister. On the day of the incident, the accused had an exchange of hot words with the victim and later shot her to death. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case.

A 45-year-old man was killed by some unidentified persons in the Shahdara area. The victim was identified as Iqbal of Islampura Match Factory, Shahdara. Some locals informed the victim’s son Assad Iqbal about the body of his father hanging with a rope in the stairs. Police shifted the body to morgue.

Five persons were found dead in various parts of the city. A 45-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Misri Shah police, a 50-year-old man from Mozang police area, a 40-year-old man from Islampura area, a 45-year-old man from Shahdara Town and a 45-year-old man was recovered dead from the jurisdiction of Bhatti Gate police. Police claimed that all the five persons were addicts who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Bodies were removed to morgue.

A 15-year-old boy was strangled to death by some unidentified persons in Gujarpura area. The victim was identified as Philips Masih of Dhoopsari, Gujarpura. The boy was playing in the street when he suddenly disappeared. Later, the locals recovered his body from an empty plot. Police shifted the body to mortuary and registered a murder case.

A woman was tortured to death by her husband in the Ghaziabad area. The accused identified as Hamid had an exchange of hot words with his wife Iram over unknown domestic issues and later subjected her to severe torture, resulting into her death. Police claimed that the accused was an addict who got infuriated when his wife refused to give him money for drugs. Body was shifted to morgue.

A 14-year-old boy died after a duty doctor administered him wrong injection in a hospital. The victim was identified as Zain of Gujarpura. It was reported that the boy had been taken to the hospital with a complaint of allergy where the duty doctor administered him wrong injection, resulting into his death. The responsible doctor disappeared after the incident. Later, the boy’s relatives staged a protest demonstration and demanded legal action against the responsible doctor.

Valuables burnt: Valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes in various fire-related incidents here in the provincial metropolis during the last three days.

Various goods were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in the shop of one Aslam in Shalamar Bagh. Fire broke out in a local factory of one Saleem Ahmad in Sundar area due to short circuit. Household items were damaged when fire broke out in a house of one Mukhtar Ahmad in Iqbal Town and Tanveer Ahmad in Sanda.

Various goods were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in the house of one Javed in the Sherakot area. Fire broke out in various shops in Misri Shah, Naulakha, Shahdara, Chuhng, Lytton Road and Lohari Gate areas due to short circuit.

INJURED: Four persons were injured by a man in the Model Town area.

As per police, the accused identified as Shahzad opened fire on his in-laws over a domestic issue, as a result of which Amjad, Nazia, Javed and Suleman got wounds. The injured persons were admitted to hospital.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old girl was injured by a stray bullet in the Shahdara Town area. The injured girl identified as Zeenat, a daughter of Akhtar, was playing in the street when a stray bullet hit her in the head. The girl was admitted to hospital where her condition was said to be critical.

Motorcyclist dies: A youth died and 12 others got injuries while performing stunts on their bikes here in the city during the last three days of Eid. A youth identified as Awais of Lohari lost his life while performing stunts on his bike in the Ravi Road area. His two friends also sustained injuries in the same mishap. The injured wheelie-doers were identified as Shakeel, Riaz, Haroon, Tahir, Shahzad, Fiaz, Junaid, Qaisar, Kamran, Naveed, Zahid, Kaleem, Asif, Farooq, Sadique, Imran and Ibrar.
