I visited Benazir Park during the Eid holidays and was shocked to see people littering at the recreational space. The ground was littered with shoppers, cigarette boxes, chips and icecream wrappers. It seems that people in our country lack basic civic sense and are partly responsible for the garbage problem that has plagued the entire country. We keep saying that cleanliness is part of our faith, but we seldom practice what we preach.
There is a pressing need of awareness among all segments of society to keep our environment clean. Schools and colleges are the best places where the youth can be taught how to keep our environment clean.
