Rain to bring respite to twin cities’ residents

Islamabad: For the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the Meteorological Department has forecast a brief respite from the hot weather in the shape of thundershowers and strong winds today (Wednesday).

PMD announced that the rain coupled with dust and thunderstorm and gusty winds was expected to fall at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara and Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. He said the rainfall would be caused by a shallow westerly wave, which was likely to last a day. The weatherman said mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts and very hot in Sindh, south/central Punjab, DI Khan, Sibbi and Makran divisions. In two weeks, the maximum temperature in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has risen to around 40 degrees Celsius mark.
