PESHAWAR: The wife of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak was returned from the Bacha Khan International Airport after her documents were found invalid, sources said on Saturday.
Amira Khattak, the wife of CM Pervaiz Khattak, was about to travel on a US passport to Dubai through a private airline. A source said that she was asked to produce her national identity card for overseas Pakistani (NICOP) that had expired after which she was returned from the airport. It was learnt she produced her CNIC but it was not considered a valid document.
There were media reports that she was offloaded from the plane. However, the officials said she was returned from the airport for not having the NICOP. The KP chief minister later told media persons that his wife returned voluntarily while respecting the law as her NICOP had expired. He said Amira Khattak was on way to Dubai to attend a family function. Pervaiz Khattak said his wife was not offloaded but she returned voluntarily.
