The troops martyred the youth during a military operation in the Tangdhar area of the district, Kashmir Media Service reported. The operation continued till reports last came in.

Meanwhile, a forceful demonstration was held at the Press Enclave in Srinagar under the auspices of the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to press the demand for the release of all illegally-detained Kashmiris languishing in various jails of the territory and India.

A large number of people, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, led by Muhammad Yasin Malik also staged a sit-in protest.

Earlier this month, 10 youth were martyred by the Indian troops in Shopian district and another was crushed to death by an army vehicle in the Noorbagh area. The Pakistan Senate, in protest, unanimously passed a resolution three weeks ago strongly condemning the reign of terror unleashed by Indian forces in IHK.

The resolution called upon the international community to end its indifference to the systematic oppression of the Kashmiri people, and noted with concerns that India had continued to maim and injure the Kashmiri people. It reiterated that Pakistan firmly stands with the Kashmiri people and will continue to extend its moral and diplomatic support to them, and urged the government to appoint a special envoy on Kashmir to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people.
