A total of 57 people were sent to jail on Wednesday as a crackdown against profiteers by the Karachi administration continued on the eighth day of the holy month of Ramazan. The arrested profiteers included fruit and vegetable vendors, grocery shopkeepers and date sellers. The administration also collected fines totalling Rs650,000 from these profiteers. According to official sources, 92 profiteers have been sent to jail during the last two days, and the Karachi administration will continue the crackdown during Ramazan to facilitate the citizens.
