Cop martyred in clash with proclaimed offenders

LAKKI MARWAT: A policeman was martyred in a clash with proclaimed offenders in Kurrum Par area on Wednesday. An official said that after receiving credible information about the presence of wanted outlaws in Wanda Aurangzeb locality, a heavy police contingent reached the village and started laying siege to the hideout of proclaimed offenders.

"The cops were busy in besieging the compound when they came under attack by criminals," maintained the official, adding that police also retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for some time. He said that Constable Asmatullah, a resident of Dallokhel village, was martyred in the clash. The official said that reinforcement was sent to the area from police lines and nearby police stations to launch a search operation in the trans-river locality. Meanwhile, funeral prayer for the martyred cop was offered at the police lines located at district headquarters complex Tajazai, which was attended by regional and local police officers.
