Food authority seizes 700kg artificial honey

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority inspected three slaughterhouses here early Monday.

According to a press release, a team comprising Assistant Director Asad Ali and food safety officers visited privately owned three slaughterhouses in different areas of Peshawar.

The assistant director showed concern at absence of veterinary doctors at slaughterhouses.

Three bakery shops situated on the Kohat Road were sealed over non-compliance with food safety standards.

In a special crackdown in Swat, the authority officials seized 700 kilograms of artificial honey being supplied from Hassanabdal.

The honey had been filled in plastic cans. When tested, it was declared artificial and the suppliers were handed over to local police.

Deputy Director Zeeshan Mahsud along with his team in Mardan College Chowk sealed four bakeries.

Special operations in Ramazan are being carried out in the KP districts. The KP Food Authority teams are working even on Sundays.
