Man shot dead by cousin over petty issue

LAHORE: A man killed his cousin over petty dispute in the Ravi Road police limits on Monday. The victim has been identified as Salahuddin, 32, a resident of Ravi Road. Police said accused Agha Gul Khan and his brothers scuffled with the victim over the parking of a bike and opened firing. As a result, he received bullet injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The accused persons had a scuffle over Sunday Bazaar couple of days back as well but locals had settled the dispute. Police have registered a case against four accused persons who are still at large and removed the body to morgue.

STRAY BULLET CLAIMS LIFE: A 13-year-old passerby was killed by a local of the area during indiscriminate firing in the Nishtar Colony police limits on Monday.The victim has been identified as Norez. Police said an accused Gama had a dispute with his neighbour over which he opened firing. As a result, the boy, who was in the street, fell victim to the bullet. He was rushed to hospital where he died. Police reached the scene after being informed and collected evidences. The accused person fled the scene. Police removed the body to morgue.

MAN DIES IN HOSPITAL: A 40-year-old man who was recovered unconscious from Burki area couple of days back died in hospital on Monday.The victim was found unconscious near BRB canal. He was identified as Daniel Masih. Police have removed the body to morgue.

Expat compensated: As a result of continuous efforts of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, an expatriate has received Rs35 million as compensation of his land, acquired for construction of a road.

OPC Vice-Chairperson Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti informed that Tauqeer Ilyas, settled in Manchester, UK, lodged a complaint that his 17 acre land has been acquired to construct the Eastern Bypass, Tehsil Ferozewala, District Sheikhupura, compensation of this land may be given to him. This complaint was referred to District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Sheikhupura for further proceedings and with the help of members of DOPC; the Overseas Pakistani received a sum of Rs35 million as price of his land. Tauqeer Ilyas thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and OPC team for providing help to get the price of his land.
