Imran questions PM’s criteria of change

MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for saying that he had not seen any change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was speaking at a meeting after the inauguration of computerised land record system at district courts.
“Construction of roads and buildings are considered the agents of change because the corrupt earn billions of rupees commission,” he sneered.
He said that if it was criteria of change then real estate tycoon Malik Riaz should be made the prime minister because he had got many buildings and roads constructed.
Imran Khan said the computerisation of land record would help resolve land disputes and no one would be able to forge land records. “Due to the computerisation of land record, the sale and purchase of land will become easier,” he added.
“Today we have taken the step from Mardan district and till 2017 we will computerise the land record in the province,” he added.
“Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party didn’t computerise the land record because they made money and property through patwaris,” he claimed.
He added that a patwari could make a person landlord and billionaire. He admitted that there would be mistakes in this system, but with the passage of time these would be corrected. He added the corrupt and mafias didn’t want change.
“Except the chief minister, our whole team in the province is new and they will gain experience with the passage of time,” he hoped.
“We have changed the culture of police station in the province and started online FIR registration system. We set up dispute resolution councils at the police station level to solve disputes so in this way we saved the people from indulging in litigations,” Imran Khan stated.
He added the PTI-led provincial government put in place a system in the province that if a department didn’t provide required information to a person in a specific time it would be fined and those showing good performance would be rewarded. “We have introduced a system of reward and punishment,” he added.
He added the KP government was introducing changes in the working of the hospitals and the general public would soon feel the change.
He said that in the past the vice-chancellors were appointed on the basis of their political affiliations.
He added the vice-chancellor in the province would be appointed purely on merit with the help of Dr Attaur Rehman, a well-known scientist.
