Q1: Sir my daughter is studying in Engineering College, Lahore in Industrial and Manufacturing Department. She is in 2nd semester but her own interest is to study Mechanical; so guide us which technology has better scope in the market. (Arshad Saleem - Lahore)
Ans: I think the degree she has started has equal value being a popular branch of engineering. Since she is doing her second semester so changing her specialty trade will be of very little value. Let her complete the current degree and think of specialisation or MS after her bachelors.
Q2: I have obtained 77 percent marks in FSc (pre-medical). I have a strong desire to get in medical college but unfortunately due to high rise in merit I am not able to make it. I have two career options now let me know which is better i-e; BS Psychology or DPT. I am confused which field should I choose. (Farah Munawar - Karachi)
Ans: If you want to become a medical student without having to do a professional degree such as MBBS, I would suggest you to opt a 4-year honors in Microbiology or Biochemistry following which you will have many options to work in hospitals alongside doctors as health specialist and pathologists who are in high demand.
Q3: Please give me advice for my brother’s future education and professional career. He is studying in second semester of DAE (Electronic) in Aligarh Institute of Technology, Karachi. (Irfan Nazeer - Karachi)
Ans: I would advise you to let your brother complete his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and then I recommend he does his MSc in Telecommunication with Wireless Engineering as a subject. This will improve his prospects in Pakistan.
Q4: I am writing this for my sister, who is a Chemical Engineer from UET but she is saying that this field is not suitable for girls and she could not find any job relevant to her field. Can you please guide which subject she should choose for her MSc that will be more helpful for her to get a good job as a female. (Rubina Kalsoom - Lahore)
Ans: Your sister can look at doing a Masters in Biomedical Engineering or Biotechnology both of them need a good science or engineering degree, and I am sure your sister would qualify for one of these degrees and this will open up more opportunities for her, as the environment in these areas are more suitable for females.
