LAHORE: Bahawalpur Division won the title of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Women Basketball Gold Cup at Cathedral C-II High School the other day. The event was organized under the aegis of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).
Bahawalpur Division girls defeated Lahore Division by a thin margin of 34-30 after a thrilling encounter and were declared as the champions.Majida Ramzan and Kashmala exhibited excellent game and scored 10 and 9 points respectively for Bahawalpur Division team. Shazia Nazeer and Samreen Kausar also contributed 8 and 7 points respectively for the victorious team. Lahore team fought well but remained a couple of points short of victory. Their main performers were: Laiba 9, Aima 8, Rahilah 7 and Rafa 6. Renowned film and TV actor Syed Shujaat Hashmi was the chief guest of the exciting match. Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Vice-President Col (retd) Naseem Butt, General Secretary Abdul Jawwad Commissioner Income Tax Punjab Revenue Authority were also present on this occasion.
The organizing committee was comprised of Imtiaz ul Hasan, M Akram, Pervaiz Younas, Ajmal Tahir, Adeel Manzar, Ahsan, Faisal Khan, Maqsood Malik, Ms Nagina, Ms Lareb Raza and Ms Ghazala. In the end, the players were awarded with the medals and certificates while the organizers were given the shields.
