Eight robbers among 10 suspects arrested in raids by Rangers

Karachi: The paramilitary force carried out raids in various parts of the city on Saturday and arrested 10 suspected criminals, robbers.

The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said soldiers conducted intelligence-based raids in Bilal Colony and Korangi Industrial Area and arrested eight robbers.

The suspects were identified as Mohammad Waseem, Ghulam Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Azhar, Mohammad Nawab, Mohammad Saleem, Ibrahim and Gulzar. They were wanted in a number of street crime and other robbery cases.

In swoops carried out in Defence and Preedy areas, two drug peddlers, Shahzad Sikander and Khurram Rehmat. The two are facing charges of running drug dens in their areas.

Weapons, looted items and narcotics were said to have been seized from the possession of the drug peddlers, who were later handed over to police for further legal proceedings.

Liquor destroyed

The Anti-Terrorist Wing of the Rangers bulldosed liquor bottles which had been seized in raids on dens in different areas of Karachi.

The spokesman said that on Saturday morning, the wing destroyed 10,242 bottles of liquor and spilt 205 liters of unprepared liquor at Gadap Firing Range.

A day earlier, eight suspects, including notorious drug peddlers, had been arrested by the paramilitary force in operations across the city.

The spokesperson for the Rangers had said that troops conducted raids in Aziz Bhatti and Darakshan areas from where they arrested two accused identified as Syed Imran Raza alias Khushak and Shahzad Gulfam alias Shadaa. The suspects were said to be involved in a number of street crime and armed robbery cases.

Raids were also conducted in Gizri, Soldier Bazaar, Frere and Aram Bagh from where six suspects were rounded up. They were later identified as Mirza Waheed, Hameed Zaman alias Hamid, Mohammad Kamran alias Alam Dhobi, Abid Ahmed alias Munna Dhobi, Amanullah and Danish Gulfam.

They were said to be operating drug dens in their respective areas. Weapons, looted items and drugs were seized from the detainees and they were handed over to the police for legal proceedings.
