Calligraphy work on display at Hamail Art Galleries

LAHORE : Brig (r) Asif Ghazali’s over 40 Quranic calligraphy works were displayed at the exhibition inaugurated at the Hamail Art Galleries on Thursday.

The calligraphic master pieces by Asif Ghazali have been produced in just six-month time. A brilliant combination of mesmerising color compositions and remarkable artistic skills by Asif, who has been nurturing this passion deep down inside him all his life but couldn’t find time to realise his talent. Immediately after getting retired from Pak Army, Asif Ghazali, a Lahori based in Karachi now, started to learn calligraphy back in 2009, his lifelong passion.

According to Asif, “It is my incessant pursuit and passion for calligraphic art along with my affinity with the quranic verse's which shape my painting today. Art is a form of expressions it provides the artist with a means to reflect his deep emotions to the world of art lovers. Being a veteran and an engineer, I have moved a long way forward to a direction which is very different.

With the growing age, I feel an increasing urge satisfaction while painting calligraphic verses. In my paintings, I have tried to use simple shapes and forms of calligraphy which are easily readable have been able to exhibit”.

A large number of artists, art students and art lovers converged at this spell-binding Quranic calligraphy exhibition.
