‘Suicide vest’ defused in FR Bannu
BANNU: The police recovered and defused a suicide vest in Bakakhel on Friday, official sources said.
They said the police conducted the action after the intelligence reports that miscreants had buried a suicide vest and other weapons on the boundary of Bannu and Frontier Region Bakakhel to target the public meeting of a political party.
The sources said the cops in the supervision of deputy superintend Bannu Cantonment and along with the officials of the bomb disposal unit (BDU) started searching the Nala Tochi area in Bakakhel.
They said the law enforcers recovered and defused a suicide vest and eight hand grenades buried in the aforementioned area. The sources added that the hand grenades were connected with the suicide jacket and could cause havoc had it exploded. They said the police also seized a prima cord and lodged case against unknown miscreants.
