DIR: Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla claimed on Thursday the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was conceived by the then President Asif Ali Zardari to provide opportunities of progress and development to small and less-developed provinces like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
“Unfortunately, all its benefits have been passed on to Punjab and other provinces deprived of its benefits,”he said while addressing workers convention in Upper Dir.
Senator Behramand Tangi, former federal minister, Najamuddin Khan, Malak Azmat Khan, Pakistan People’s Party’s district president Arifullah Khan, MPA Sanaullah Khan and other were also present.
Saleem Mandviwalla said PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zaedari wanted to make mega projects in Balochistan and KP including motorways, industries and people got jobs others through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
He claimed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government had intentionally ignored KP and Balochistan in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, promising the PPP would give due rights to KP and Balochistan after forming government at the cerntre.
The Senate deputy chairman said PPP’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would visit Upper Dir after the Eidul Fitr. Najamuddin Khan, Behramand Tangi and Sahibzada Sanaullah also addressed the convention.
