Ali Siddiqui case: SHC issues notices to NAB, Interior ministry
KARACHI : The Sindh High Court on Thursday issued notices to the ministry of interior and others on an application of the National Accountability Bureau seeking placement of the name of Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to the US Ali Jahangir Siddiqui in the Exit Control List.
Ali J Siddiqui has also challenged the NAB call-up notice issued to him over a corruption inquiry against the directors of investment firm Azgard Nine, Agritech and obtained an interim stay order restraining NAB from adverse action including arrest.
The NAB's counsel submitted that para-wise comments have been filed by the NAB highlighting the damage caused to the national exchequer by the petitioner, along with the allied factor, which brings the cause and case of the petitioner within ambit, domain and mischief of section 9 of the NAB ordinance. The court was requested to recall the interim stay order and direct the ministry of interior to place the name of petitioner in Exit Control List till the decision of the petitioner’s case. The court issued notices to the Ali J Siddiqui, ministry of interior and others and called their comments on May 15.
