Five-time champions KRL out of National Challenge Cup
KARACHI: Five-time champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) faced a shock exit on Wednesday when newly-formed Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) beat them 1-0 in their last group outing of the PFF National Challenge Cup here at the All Brothers Club Ground in Malir.
Zaid Umar hit the winner in the 86th minute. The result put CAA in the quarter-finals. At KPT Stadium, Asia Ghee Mills also blasted their way into the quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). Mubashir struck the winner in the 43rd minute.
This completed the quarter-finals frame. Ashraf Sugar Mills, Pakistan Petroleum Limited, Navy, WAPDA, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Army are the others who have made it to the quarter-finals. In the first quarter-final, on Thursday (today), ASM face PPL at the KPT Sports Complex.
