LAHORE
A division bench of the Lahore High Court directed the Faisalabad DCO Noor-ul-Amin to decide within three days about detention of Idara Minhajul Quran leader Afzal Rizvi.
Bench earlier had summoned DCO who appeared Tuesday and informed that on secret agencies report the detention orders were issued.
Bench remarked that DCO should apply independent mind and avoid declaring any one terrorist. Kubra Rizvi, wife of alleged detainee, moved the petition for recovery of her spouse. Petitioner’s counsel alleged that the police had detained her husband, when no case was lodged against him and he was also not produced before court. He said there was no justification as Afzal was a peace-loving person and even the Punjab government had awarded him a prize for his services for peace.
He requested to declare the detention of her husband illegal and order police to immediately release him.
