Riffat bags Women’s Squash trophy
LAHORE: Riffat Khan of Wapda won the 1st Chief Minister Punjab National Women Squash Championship trophy after she beat Zoya Khalid of Army in the final here at the Punjab Squash Complex on Monday.
Both players started their match well but Riffat won first set easily. In the 2nd set Zoya played well and was leading 7-5 at one stage. But Riffat came from behind and won the 2nd set with 11/9. Similarly in the third and final game, Zoya despite leading with 6-5 lost 11/9. Riffat Khan took 23 minutes to undo the resistance given by her opponent to take the title. In Under-19 final, Amna Fayyaz also proved too strong for Noor Ul Huda. Amna had to stay in the court for just 24 minutes to take away the match and the trophy. Amna won first game by 11/5. But in the second game, Noor gave some resistance but Amna was too good to handle as she won 11/8. In the third and final game, Amna won by 11/5 and won the match. Chief guest of the final was Imran Muktar, Vice president Punjab Squash Association.
