Urdu Science Board, AIOU sign MoU to promote education
LAHORE : Urdu Science Board (USB) and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have signed an MoU to promote education in the country by developing joint publications as a national cause.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Urdu Science Board here Saturday. Signed by AIOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui and USB Director General Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyar, the agreement will last for five years.
Under the joint venture, AIOU will contribute and arrange funds for holding conferences, workshops, lectures, fairs and other events related to book development.
The AIOU administration will assign its students to Urdu Science Board for internship in the field of research, creative work and marketing of books. In addition, AIOU will also sponsor activities and programmes that would be helpful for creating and enhancing book reading habit in the society, book promotion and advancement of literacy and dissemination of knowledge.
“Mutual cooperation of both the organisations can provide momentum to our national educational development goals,” Dr Shahid Siddiqui said on the occasion. He said the university has included 24 new programmes and started to provide free-of-cost education to the unprivileged people and areas of the country, including special persons, prisoners and transgender.
Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyar said the agreement would be helpful for creating and establishing mutual relationships between both the organisations. He said the Board had a number of news books in addition to conducting lectures on different topics and signing an MoU with University of Gujrat.
