JI chief promises uniform curriculum if voted to power

SWABI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has said that if he got an opportunity to rule the country, he would introduce uniform curriculum from nursery up to matriculation level in both public and private sector schools.
He was addressing here on Monday at the prize distribution ceremony of All Pakistan TechFest, organised by Society of Mechanical Engineering Pakistan (SMEP), a student union of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Academia and students from various engineering universities participated in the three-day event.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that after matriculation each student would be allowed to go to the field of his/her choice to deliver according to the requirements of the country and his/her wishes. The students studying at seminaries would also be brought into the mainstream of contemporary education, he said.
He said that quality education could steer the country out of the prevailing crises and it’s the education which could unite and strengthen the nation. “My greatest desire is that education should get the major share in the budget compared to defence. I think education should remain domain of the federal government,” he said.
