ISLAMABAD: On the auspicious occasion of Pakistan Day, President Mamnoon Hussain awarded national awards to four senior journalists associated with the Jang Group and Mir Muhammad Ali -- a renowned artist of Geo News.
The President’s Award for Pride of Performance was conferred on Idrees Bakhtiar and Abdul Rauf Tahir -- senior columnists of daily Jang, while the late Ayesha Haroon, former editor of The News, was decorated with the medal posthumously.
Another civil award Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was conferred on Khawaja Babar Saleem, daily Jang correspondent in Chakwal. Moreover, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was also awarded posthumously to former president of PFUJ Minhaj Barna for his national services. Ata-ur-Rehman also got the President’s Award for Pride of Performance.
Mir Muhammad Ali -- a renowned artist associated with the Geo News programme ‘Khabarnak’ - is also among those receiving the President’s Award for Pride of Performance. Mir, who belongs to Azad Kashmir, started his career with Geo News programme ‘Pitti hoi News’ but it is ‘Khabarnak’ which gave him the countrywide fame. He parodies various personalities, especially politicians, and has appeared in over 200 characters so far.
