Qalandars beat Tigers in MCL quarter-final
PESHAWAR: Qalandars stor-med into the semi-finals of the second edition of the Media Cricket League (MCL) after a comfortable 14-run win over Tigers at the Government Shaheed Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No 1 here on Wednesday.
Put in to bat first, Qalandars of The News, Jang and Geo scored 112 in the stipulated 10 overs. Qalandars managed to score just 51-1 in the first six overs. But they launched an onslaught on the bowlers to add 61 runs in the final four overs to end up with an imposing total.
Ziaul Islam top-scored with a well-played 23 while fellow opener Mehmood added 20. Asghar (14), Hameedullah Jan (12) and Adil Pervez (11) also had a good day.
Sajjad bowled well for Tigers and took two wickets.In reply, Tigers scored 98 runs in 10 overs. Ashfaq was the only batsman who offered some resistance to Qalandars’ bowlers and scored 24. Abid contributed 18.
Asmat Shah bagged three wickets while Hameedullah had two. Adil and Durrani took one wicket each.Hameedullah and Asmat were declared players of the match.
