Over 100 local and foreign medical students will appear in the MD, MS and MDS exams (equivalent to PhD) to be held under the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (SZAB) Medical University here today (Tuesday).
Students who have completed their five-year clinical training, got their research thesis approved from external examiners and specialists of their respective medical fields are being allowed to sit in the biggest public sector medical exam being organised by SZABMU.
“We are holding competitive medical examination which means that the examination standards of SZAB Medical University are at par with any national or international medical educational degree awarding institution. There has been no leakage of papers, nor have papers been copy-pasted from any other institution. There are no loopholes in our examination system,” the university’s vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Javed Akram stated while talking to the media after having inspected the examination arrangements.
Students from Yemen, Nepal, Afghanistan and Iran will also appear in the exams. Prof Akram appreciated the hard work of the examination department, and praised the transparency and secrecy maintained for smooth conduct of the exam. He said, “We will soon purchase our own printing press to ensure complete secrecy in printing of examination papers.”
Students will also appear in M.Phil in Basic Sciences including diplomas in Child Health as well as Gynaecology and Obstetrics. All these students were allowed to sit in the examination after recommendations and approval from the Advanced Study and Research Board — an entity that evaluates all thesis work reviewed by external examiners.
