LAHORE: As the Pakistan Cup one-day tournament will begin in Faisalabad from Wednesday. Pacer Wahab Riaz, who has been in the news following his non-selection in the national team, has now been ruled out of the tournament. According to Pakistan Cricket Board, five regional teams including Federal Areas, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will participate in the fifty-over tournament. The matches will be played at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad starting at 2.30 pm. Final of the tournament will be played on May 6. The fast bowler Wajab Riaz has to undergo a nose surgery and that has ended his hopes for participation in the upcoming tournament. Riaz has had trouble with his nose for a while now and recently the doctors advised him to get it operated. The surgery is expected to be carried out on April 28. Following the procedure, the pacer will have to rest for at least two weeks before he returns to the field. Thus he will not be in a position to play the Pakistan Cup, the domestic one-day tournament that ends on May 6. Earlier he was excluded from the Test squad for UK tour. Imad Waseem will lead Federal Areas team while Umar Amin is leading Sindh. Ahmed Shehzad is captaining Balochistan.
