Govt restored peace in Karachi: Sindh governor
KARACHI: The Sindh Governor, Mohammad Zubair, has said the federal government in the last five years fulfilled its commitment not to influence any of the law-enforcement agencies conducting targeted operation in Karachi, for getting freed or providing any privilege to the arrested criminals or terrorists. Zubair said this while meeting a delegation of officers of the Pakistan Army from the School of Artillery in Nowshera, at the Governor's House on Tuesday. The governor said the present federal government launched a targeted operation in the city to end lawlessness and terrorism. Zubair said the parliament delegated special anti-terror and policing powers to the Sindh Rangers enabling it to conduct the operation. He said peace has been restored in Karachi owing to the untiring efforts of the law-enforcement agencies and the government's resolve. He said at present Karachi is witnessing very few incidents of heinous crimes and terrorism as compared to other parts of the country. Zubair credited the role of Pakistan Army and its sacrifices in the ongoing war against terrorism, for countrywide peace. He said the terrorists have been crushed in Operations Zarb-e-Azb and Raddul Fasad. The Sindh governor said the government is focusing on building new civic and communication infrastructure after restoration of peace.
