HANGU: The grand jirga of 18 tribes of Orakzai Agency on Monday presented charter of demands to the political administration and threatened to stage a sit-in outside the Governor’s House in Peshawar if these were not met.
The demands were put before the political administration in a meeting of the members of the jirga with the officials of administration held here.Chairman of the grand jirga and vice president of Muttahida Qabail Party Malik Habib Noor-led the delegation of the elders of all the tribes.
Assistant Political Agent Syed Nauman Ali Shah and political tehsildar Khayesta Akbar represented the administration during the meeting.The tribal elders asked for enlisting the owners whose houses and other properties had been damaged or destroyed in the militancy and military operations against them that could not be registered in the damage assessment survey, return of the remaining temporarily displaced persons (TDP) of Mamozai and Baizot tribes to native areas, not carry out any fresh survey of the boundary demarcation between the Alikhel and Afridi tribes in Daburi area implement an earlier survey carried out in this regard, restore power supply to lower parts of Orakzai and get release the tribesmen of Chapar Mushtikhel and Sheikhan tribes arrested by the Kohat police.The set 10 days deadline for acceptance of their demands and threatened to stage a sit-in outside the Governor’s House in Peshawar if their demands were not met.
