CADD trains 2,125 officials to facilitate disabled persons

The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), as part of its measures to facilitate disabled citizens, has provided educational and vocational training to 2,125 in-service officials during last two years.
Of the total, 1,084 in-service persons were trained in National Institute of Special Education who were associated with Education and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities while 1,068 were trained for income generation and community services at Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled Persons (VREDP), Islamabad. Sources at CADD while enumerating the steps taken during last two years, said 1,576 children with all four types of disabilities i.e. physically, visually, intellectually and hearing impairment, were given medical rehabilitation, educational and training facilities.
The sources said during the period, Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) facilitated the process of signing and ratification of United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and now working for implementation and legislation of the convention.
Similarly, they said International Labour Organization (ILO) and Directorate General of Special Education completed Quantitative Survey of Persons with Disabilities and their needs for Vocational Rehabilitation in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
