Aqib, Saad and Shakeel keep ZTBL afloat

KARACHI: Aqib Shah, Hafiz Saad Nasim and Shakeel Ansar blasted fine fifties to enable Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) to post 293 all out in their first innings against Ghani Glass on the first day of their four-day final of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Aqib smashed seven fours in his 160-ball 72 while Saad banged eight fours in his 83-ball 71. Shakeel, the wicket-keeper batsman, hit five fours in his 52 which came off 116 deliveries.

Mohammad Umar was the pick of the bowlers with 4-120. Hasnain Bukhari claimed 3-41. Ulfat Shah got 2-58. In response, Ghani Glass were ten for one in nine overs.

Nadeem Iqbal and Raweed Khan are supervising the match.

Meanwhile in the first semi-final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Grade-II at Multan Stadium, Hyderabad were bowled out by Multan for 117 in their first innings on the opening day. Shoaib Leghari top-scored 38. Amir Yamin and Ahsan Baig got three wickets each. Multan, in response, were 111-9 in 35 overs at stumps. Zain Abbas hit an unbeaten 50 with three fours. Nouman Akbar got 6-52.

In the second semi-final here at National Stadium, Abbottabad were bowled out by Karachi Blues for 169 in their first innings. Imran Shah struck 47 while Kamran Ghulam made 37. Spinner Mohammad Asghar got 4-64. In response, Karachi Blues reached 59-1 in 23 overs at stumps with Ramiz Raja batting on 29.
