Serve first, pollute later
Restaurants that are opened along the Karachi beach provide a suitable ambience to visitors. However, their carelessness has also polluted the sea. Leftovers and other waste are often dumped in the sea. Large chunks of garbage can be seen floating on the surface of the sea. This garbage, when rotten, creates a revolting stench that inconveniences those who visit restaurants near the sea.
While no one is against opening restaurants along the beach, restaurant owners should be mindful of keeping the environment clean. Karachi is already facing so many problems due to environmental pollution. Water pollution also poses serious hazard to marine life. We should be working towards keeping our city clean, instead of contributing more towards polluting it. The higher authorities should take measures to prevent this mindless contamination of our seas.
