PMS officers protest

LAHORE: On the call of Provincial Management Service (PMS) Officers Association, nearly 300 PMS officers gathered in front of Punjab Chief Secretary Office after Friday prayers and staged a silent and peaceful protest to press for their demands.

The PMS Officers Association spokesman said they had planned to stage the protest in the lawn in front of CS office, but the CS called the police. An SP stopped them from entering the lawn, therefore, they staged the protest on the road outside the CS office.

He alleged the CS through police attempted to provoke the peaceful PMS officers to create an untoward situation. The PMS officers remained peaceful and did not fall into the trap of the DMG officers, he added.

The PMS officers, while wearing black armbands, kept silent for five minutes to register their protest against “delayed promotions, non-creation of DTL posts, posting of non-cadre officers against the posts of PMS officers and other problems being faced by the PMS officers since long.” They were carrying placards in favour of their demands.

PMS Officers Association President Shahid Hussain and Secretary General Naveed Shahzad led the protest demonstration. It was decided the PMS officers would wear black armbands while performing their duties across the province. It was also decided that they would gather again next Friday to stage a peaceful protest in front of the CS office. They pledged their peaceful protest would continue unless their demands were met.

The protest demonstration also caused a traffic mess. transferred: The Punjab government Friday issued notification regarding transfer and posting of four officers.

District and Sessions Judge Asad Ali has been posted as Member Punjab Public Service Tribunal and HR&Coordintion Assistant Commissioner (AC) Umar Farooq as AC Piplan. Tallagang AC Zahid Khan has been transferred and posted as AC Jhelum. Meanwhile, transfer order of AC Abdullah Khuram Niazi has been cancelled.
