TDAP to step up carpet exports
LAHORE: Mian Riaz Ahmed, Director General (DG) Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), on Friday said carpet industry’s concerns would be resolved expeditiously to push the exports of this segment of textiles.
“The government was committed to facilitate trade and industry to help generate the pace of economic development of the country,” said Ahmed talking to a four member delegation of Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) at the TDAP office.
The DG added that all the trade related issues facing exporters were being addressed with the objective to enhance the scale of exports. Latif Malik, chairman PCMEA, told the DG about the issues confronted by the exporters.
“Compared to India, our industry iss not being provided with the kind of incentives as the exporters were being provided by the Indian government,” Malik said.
He reiterated the government should encourage the carpet industry through subsidy incentives and opening new factories.
