PTI MPA Faisal Zaman says on oath he never sold vote
HARIPUR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member Provincial Assembly Faisal Zaman from PK-52 said on oath here on Thursday that he had not sold his vote in the recent Senate election.
He was speaking at a press conference at the Haripur Press Club after PTI Chairman Imran Khan accused 20 party MPAs including him (Faisal Zaman) for allegedly selling their votes in the Senate election.
The MPA was also accompanied by District Nazim Adil Islam on the occasion. Holding the Holy Quran in his hands, Faisal Zaman rejected the claim that he had sold his vote. The legislator said he did not betray the party and voted for Ayub Afridi who was the party's candidate in Senate election. The MPA said he always followed the party's line of action.
Faisal Zaman, also known as Jawhazwala, said that he was from a family which spent millions of rupees in charity and would not sell his conscience for 20 or 30 million rupees. He said if he was accused of selling vote, then the party had the right to question him before the announcement, adding he was kept in the dark before the press conference of Imran Khan.
The PTI MPA said that the allegations had destroyed the honour of his family and political career. He termed it a conspiracy hatched by some people within the party from Haripur. He said he was ready to satisfy the party and go to any extent to prove his innocence. Answering a question, he said that making the names of MPAs public before the proper inquiry would have negative impact on party's popularity and the local elections.
