PR enhanced security of office records
LAHORE: In the wake of recent suo motu notice of the apex court regarding audit of Rs60 billion loss of Pakistan Railways or the reasons only known to the railways higher administration, a letter has been circulated by the administration to enhance the security of railways record.
Sources revealed that these measures have been taken due to the fear that these documents could be burnt by unidentified persons as it had happened in the past with the records of Metro Bus, Rawalpindi and Lahore, Nandipur Power plant and Ramazan Sugar Mills. Just like Pakistan Railways, these entities had come under scrutiny and their records had been called for inspection.
A two-member bench comprised of CJP Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Ijazul Hassan had heard a suo motu case regarding Rs60 billion losses suffered by Pakistan Railways at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry on April 14, 2018. After the approval of Javed Boobak, Chief Executive of Pakistan Railways, it was decided that the records of Pakistan Railways will be prepared, updated and kept in safe custody. For this purpose, the Inspector General (IG) Pakistan Railways Police was requested to deploy additional police force for the security of Pakistan Railways headquarters in Lahore.
According to the document available with The News, keeping in view the prevailing circumstances it has been decided to enhance the security of official record as well as the installation of offices /branches of Pakistan Railways buildings. The document also said that it is; therefore, requested to direct the officers/office superintendents concerned of the branches to take extensive measures to enhance security with special measures.
Pakistan Railways Deputy General Manager (DGM) Fareed Ahmad rejected that allegation and said there was no fear of burning of record. Because of internal matters, we have enhanced security of our records in the offices, he concluded. Sher Ali Khalti
