The first polio case of 2018 was reported in the Dukki district of Balochistan. According to some media reports, a three-year-old child has fallen prey to this virus. The country still has a long way to go in its fight against polio.
Although the number of polio cases has been reduced significantly, the emergence of new cases each year shows that a lot more needs to be done to make Pakistan the polio-free country. The healthcare department of the province should take notice of the situation and start polio campaigns to prevent children from contracting the disease.
