Various breeds showcased at bird show

PESHAWAR: A fun-filled Bird Show was held at the lone five-star hotel here on Saturday with an aim to create awareness among the people about the flora and fauna and their different species and how to help in saving them from extinction.

The show, which was the first of its kind, was jointly organised by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP).

Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Muhammad Tariq was the chief guest. Besides Pearl Continental Hotel Public Relations Manager Imtiaz Ali, Rashid Rauf Banday, TCKP Manager Marketing Hassina Shaukat and Director Livestock Dr Masoom, a large number of people and families attended the show.

They appreciated the efforts of organisers for arranging such a fine event. They were delighted by the display of different breeds of birds. Beautiful cribbing sound of birds greeted attendees the moment they walked in.

The show also featured various other events including magic show for children, food stalls, face painting and live music programme.

The visitors said that providing such a platform was good gesture on the part of organizers as the lovers of birds were able to bring exotic species for exhibition.

At the same time, they said that they got an opportunity to come out of our homes and enjoy life with our families.

It was refreshing to see the zeal with which bird owners introduced various species to visitors.

Different varieties of birds were on display like cockatoos, macaws, fancy chickens, canaries and pheasants from not only Peshawar but bird lovers from Islamabad, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Charsadda and Lahore also participated in the show.

Veterinarians offered expert advice to people who had questions about their pets. Stalls were set up where vendors sold pet accessories and food and beverages.

A young man named Shan walked around with an African gray parrot perched on his arm. “I’m so excited to attend my first bird show,” he exclaimed. “It is great to see Peshawar evolving this way.”

“People are yearning for such events,” added Maham, who cradled a beautiful macaw parrot. “We want our city to be known as a metropolis where people are able to actually enjoy life thoroughly.”

Guests visiting Peshawar from other areas like Islamabad and Lahore enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather and the beautifully organized event.

Later, chief guest Muhammad Tariq, PC official Abbas Pervez Khan along with Director Livestock Dr Masoom distributed certificates and trophies among the winners.
