Rawalpindi, Islamabad: ‘No more loadshedding this summer’
Rawalpindi: The residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will not face loadshedding this summer because Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) is getting the required quota of electricity, Iesco spokesman Raja Asim Nazir told ‘The News’ here on Saturday.
He said that 70 per cent areas in the city were already exempted from loadshedding but 30 per cent areas (291 feeders) are still facing loadshedding for around 2 to 8 hours because of power theft, line losses and management issues. “We are trying to manage line losses to end loadshedding in the remaining 30 per cent localities as well,” claimed Raja Asim Nazir. In total there are 744 feeders in Iesco jurisdiction and only areas connected with 291 feeders are still facing power outages.
Iesco spokesman revealed that 163 feeders, which serve 702,873 consumers are facing only two hours of loadshedding as compared to three to four hours of outages earlier due to the ratio of 10-20 per cent line losses.
Similarly, 16 feeders with 20-30 per cent losses are facing only two hours of loadshedding as compared to earlier schedule of six to eight hours. Eight feeders, which showed 30-40 per cent losses, are facing outages for four hours only against earlier schedule of ten hours. While 12 feeders with 40-60 per cent losses are facing six hours loadshedding as compared to 12-16 hours. Whereas outages in areas connected with 69 feeders, showing 60-80 per cent losses are facing eight hours loadshedding against 18 hours.
