ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman who took command of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Thursday said the harmony and synergy amongst the three services as well as the understanding of each other’s problems is better than ever before.
Speaking at the change of command ceremony here at the Air Headquarters, the newly-appointed Chief of the Air Staff said that the harmony and synergy among the three services was exhibited during relief and rescue operation or the on-going Zarb-e-Azb. This certainly augurs well for making the defence of our homeland impregnable.
The outgoing Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, handed over the “Command Sword” to Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and also decorated him with the ranks of Air Chief Marshal. The air chief said that operationally, the last three years were full of challenges, “We were also in a period that needed continuity and thorough consolidation to materialise the hard work done by my predecessors in planning and starting the induction of various modern capabilities,” he said
He observed that while responses to external challenges, in complete synergy with other services, are well in place, the PAF has also been able to exploit its enhanced capabilities to play an extremely important role in supporting our valiant ground forces in their law enforcement operations.
The air chief further said, “With the beginning of production of JF-17 Block-II aircraft, the programme is well on its way, and with minor variations the aircraft has already been inducted into the Combat Commander School to fully realise its potential as a modern platform.” The consent of the government to initiate the process of configuration negotiations for JF-17 Block-III aircraft is under way, he said.
