PROVINCIAL Zakat Council has approved the release of Rs53.9 million under the head of educational scholarships for educational institutes and seminaries.
This was decided at a meeting of Provincial Zakat Council presided over by Chairman Justice (R) Akhtar Hassan Thursday. The council approved Rs28.5 million for 5,032 students of 115 education institutions of 13 districts of Punjab and Rs25.39 million for 7,274 deserving students studying in 69 seminaries of eight districts.
The council approved nomination as chairman of Aamir Saeed Ansari, Abida Bashir and Syed Aghaz Hussain Shah in District Zakat Committees of three districts Multan, Jhang and Vehari besides nomination of District Zakat Committee members in 26 districts.
The Council approved payment of scholarships to deserving students studying in technical training institutes under the aegis of Punjab Vocational Training Council and increased their monthly scholarship from Rs2,500 to Rs3,000. The council decided that financial assistance be provided to those deserving students for their business who have completed their education from technical training institutes to make them useful citizens of society.
