Delimitations: ECP issues schedule for hearing representations
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday issued the schedule for hearing the representations on delimitation of constituencies and the last hearing is to be held on May 2, covering 1,206 representations yet to be taken during this period from Friday onward.
According to the schedule, the ECP bench will hold hearing even on Saturdays to ensure all 1,286 representations were held well on time. The process of hearing started from Wednesday (April 4).
Representations about as many as seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been fixed for Friday in addition to three more districts, and in all, 46 representations are to be taken up, whereas for the last hearing i.e. on May 2, 67 representations on 13 districts of Balochistan has been fixed.
The ECP during hearing of representations Thursday, accepted the objections raised on the delimitation in Kasur district. The ECP received 38 objections to the delimitation of constituencies in the district over which it accepted the objections to two National Assembly constituencies and five provincial constituencies.
The constituencies whose objections were approved include the National Assembly constituencies: NA-137, NA-138 and provincial constituencies of PP-174, PP-175, PP-180, PP-181 and PP-182. The ECP issued a written order on the representations.
The ECP received a total of 1,286 objections to delimitation of the constituencies throughout the country. Out of these, 706 objections were received from Punjab, 284 from Sindh, 104 from Balochistan and 192 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
