Boult bags Sir Richard Hadlee Medal
WELLINGTON: Fast bowler Trent Boult pocketed the famous Sir Richard Hadlee Medal as the player of the year, denying his captain Kane Williamson a chance to win it three times in a row, at the New Zealand Cricket annual awards on Wednesday.
Boult, who finished with 15 wickets in their recent Test series win over England, was also named Test cricketer of the year. Boult has been in exceptional form in recent times, becoming the sixth New Zealander to pick 200 Test wickets. He has 77 wickets to his name in the judging period for the award.
Ross Taylor and Colin Munro took home the awards for ODI player of the year and T20I player of the year respectively. The 34-year-old Taylor smashed an eye-catching, unbeaten 181 - his 19th ODI century - against England in Dunedin, and showed great limited-overs form in the recent times.
