PESHAWAR: Senator Behramand Tangi of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Friday claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would face the consequences for indulging in corruption.

"PTI chief Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would face jail due to the massive corruption during the party's rule in the province once the term of their government is completed," he told a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPP).

Ziauullah Afridi, who after expulsion from the PTI joined the PPP, was also present on the occasion. The newly elected PPP Senator alleged that Pervez Khattak and his team had been involved in corruption worth billions of rupees in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and also in tourism, health and others sectors. He asked NAB to complete its inquiries against the PTI leaders forthwith.

Castigating Imran Khan for failing to fulfil the promises made with the people before the general election in May 2013, Senator Behramand Tangi said the PTI chief had failed in materialising the promise of change and provision of justice to the people within three months.

"Imran Khan and his team may have forgotten their pledges but people won't forget and forgive them," he added. He said billions of rupees were spent on the establishment of KP Ehtesab Commission. "However, director general of the commission was removed when he tried to start accountability of Khattak.”
