LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said the politics of transparency and public service had always defeated the politics of deceit.
“People have rejected the elements involved in sit-ins and making records of corruption in the past and they will do so in the future as well,” he added. Shahbaz said each of the PML-N government tenure was filled with the golden principles of public service, honesty, trust and transparency.
On the other hand, those showing the worst performance in their province had tried to hoodwink the people through lies, he noted. “The sit-in group has conspired to stop the journey of public service,” the chief minister said. “Imran Niazi has lost his creditability in the public by speaking lies and continued indulgence in baseless allegations. He has rather has set a world-record of taking U-turns,” he said.
Talking to a delegation of PML-N in London, the chief minister said an attempt was made to obstruct the process of national development and prosperity of the people through sit-ins. Had these elements realised facts in the larger national interest, the nation, which was already facing problems, would have taken some sigh of relief, he added.
“These elements have committed great cruelty with the nation for the sake of their personal interests,” said Shahbaz who added that such elements opposing would have to face the wrath of the people in the next elections.
“How can those who got their loans worth billions of rupees waived off are today talking about eliminating corruption,” he asked a question. Separately, the chief minister congratulated Dr Khalid Mehmood and his team for a successful operation of brain tumour without giving anaesthesia to the patient and declared it a landmark achievement in the health sector.
On the other hand, Shahbaz, taking notice of the death of a nine-year-old girl due to alleged torture in a hospital of Bahawalpur, sought a report from the health minister and secretary.
