LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, Director General Shahzad Saleem Wednesday handed over Rs 4.437 million cheque to a private bank at NAB office.
According to a press release, the NAB, Lahore, had launched a probe on a complaint received from the bank regarding theft of the bank’s tax money. During the inquiry, it was revealed that Muhammad Ahmad, former assistant manager, misused his powers and embezzled the withholding tax amounts.
He was found involved in misappropriation of Rs 11.22 million, and he had fraudulently transferred the amount to his personal accounts. NAB recovered the embezzled amount from the accused through a plea bargain. NAB has already handed over Rs 1.8 million to the bank in the same case.
