Transgender among 2 shot dead in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants gunned down two persons, including a transgender, on Ring Road in the limits of Faqirabad Police Station on Tuesday.
Police said that the armed men opened fire on an auto-rickshaw near a private university on the Ring Road. Two passengers of the rickshaw, including a transgender, suffered injuries.
“A transgender along with her friend Izaz were on way in rickshaw from Iqbal Plaza when two armed bike riders opened fire on them on the Ring Road. Both the passengers were killed,” Tahir Dawar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Faqirabad told reporters. He added that the police were searching for the killers who escaped on the motorbike.
The transgender have come under attack on a number of occasions in the city during the last few years. And the representatives of the transgender community demand security.
