PTI vows to foil efforts to send Nawaz abroad

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tuesday expressed reservations over the efforts being made to send former prime minister Nawaz Sharif abroad and vowed to foil any such attempt.This assertion came at a meeting of the PTI chaired by its chief Imran Khan here. The meeting noted that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s statement against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani was exceedingly improper and in negation to his status as chief executive of Pakistan. It emphasised that the prime minister was bound to accord due respect to the constitutional institutions and their slots.

The PTI leadership aired concern over the prime minister’s statement of having dialogue with the state institutions and asserted that the accountability process should be completed with equal treatment to all without discrimination.

“There should be equal treatment to Nawaz with regardto accountability and he must be treated just like any corrupt person,” the meeting emphasised.

The meeting was perturbed over what it called the worst economic situation and formed a committee headed by Asad Umar and including Senator Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub Khan to look into contradictory economic narrative spelt out by the government functionaries and Ishaq Dar. The committee will take on the government for its “poor governance and the economic mess”, it had put Pakistan in.

It was decided that Imran Khan will announce a solid line of action regarding the future of Fata in April. The meeting charged that the ruling PML-N had entangled the merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reiterating not to let the ruling party to usurp rights of tribal people.

The PTI Punjab parliamentary party was asked to prepare reference against Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and provincial health minister for procurement of medicines at exorbitant rates, causing a loss of Rs1.5 billion to the national exchequer. The meeting also discussed the role of certain lawmakers in the recent Senate elections. Imran directed KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak to complete investigation early and take action against those involved in wrongdoing.
