How others will respect SC verdict when PM doesn’t: Imran
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Sunday questioned how others could be expected to respect the Supreme Court’s verdict when the country’s prime minister is not doing the same.
In a series of tweets, Imran asked four questions: “If the PM of the country is not prepared to accept and respect judgement of the SC, how can others be expected to do so?”
Imran criticised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for his offer to opposition for bringing a consensus Senate chairman, who had earlier alleged horse-trading in the recent Senate elections.
He wrote: “Does PM Abbasi think NS (Nawaz Sharif) is or is not involved in money laundering? If he thinks he is, then how can Abbasi as PM condone crime of money laundering? If Abbasi thinks NS is not guilty of money laundering then he is more foolish than one thought.”
He further wrote: “Does PM Abbasi regard the debilitating dollars10 billion money laundering per yr that is destroying Pakistan a non-issue?. Questions for PM Abbasi after his histrionics yesterday 1: How could Panama case & it’s verdict have derailed development when it indicted Nawaz Sharif (NS) for money laundering? Does PM Abbasi feel a money launderer shd be above the law bec of some imagined ongoing development?”
The PTI chairman continued: “So now PM Abbasi is crying abt horse-trading & money deciding Senate elections! If his party was so concerned why didn’t they support PTI’s proposals to change Senate election format to prevent exactly these shenanigans?”
Meanwhile, Imran discussed latest political situation and legal matters with party leader Babar Awan. Aun Chaudhry an Abdullah Babar Awan were also present on the occasion. Imran welcomed the Supreme Court order for investigation into affairs of 56 companies and also hailed probe orders into corruption in Punjab’s mega projects.
He demanded the government to make public contractual details of Multan metro bus project and Orange Line Train project.
Babar Awan said that now there would be judgements in corruption cases against Sharif brothers and there would no more be any NRO for them. About the prime minister’s statement against incumbent Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, he charged that his statement was in negation of the spirit of the federation.
